What I do:
I offer 60-, 90-, and 120-minute workshops that combine yoga, meditation, sound bathing, and aromatherapy. My approach draws from neuroscience and somatic awareness to help people regulate their nervous systems, strengthen their bodies, and develop mental clarity—all in a grounded, accessible way.
The philosophy:
We live in a wild world—epic, beautiful, spontaneous, and inspiring. But sometimes, it can also be challenging and frightening. While we can’t change the wild world around us, we can change our relationship with it—and how we interact with it. In other words, we can let go of what we cannot change and lean into what we can: ourselves.
A look inside a workshop:
Just as regular physical exercise trains and conditions our muscles and cardiovascular system for optimal health and performance, consistently practicing evidence-based mindfulness and somatic exercises can train and condition the mind and nervous system to release and recover from stress. We can’t eliminate stress, but we can alleviate and navigate it more easily.
Core practices:
-
Mindfulness Meditation
Mindfulness meditation is an ancient practice in which students place their focus on one thing (typically the breath) to bring them into the present moment and out of the “thought spirals” our brains tend to get stuck in.
MBSR and the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn have brought forth a wealth of scientific, evidence based, research on all the benefits available from maintaining a consistent practice but don’t just take their word for it — come to a workshop to try it out for yourself!

-
Sound Bathing
There are many different types of sound baths in the world. We utilize a variety of premium vibrational instruments (including crystal singing bowls, hand-crafted nickel & silver gongs, & other idiophones) to create a therapeutic experience we affectionately call, “a massage for the nervous system”.
So, what can you expect? To be bathed in overlapping vibrating sounds intended to quiet the mind, clear emotional blockages, and aid in shifting out of the sympathetic nervous system (fight-or-flight state) and into the parasympathetic nervous system (rest & recovery state).

-
Yoga
At Befriending The Wild, we practice yoga for its integrative/unifying benefits (which include quieting the mind and rebalancing the emotional body) just as much as we practice to strengthen our physical body. We approach each asana (pose) as a moving meditation.
Uh, what does that mean? It means, our practice is slow and intentional. We practice to release specific things (stress, tension, and anything else we’ve picked up that doesn’t serve us in a healthy way). In short, if you’re looking for a “power flow” class you won’t find it here. What you will find: relief, release, and an increase in your physical and mental resilience.
